PREFACE **Beauties who Broke Inane Barriers Secret Sauce of Eight Miss Universe & Miss World** Everybody talks about the glamorous look, lifestyle of Miss Universe, and Miss Worlds. But few people know or speak up regarding the real spangle beneath the skin. It is their conscience, empathy, toil, and intellect which get them where they are today. This book discusses briefly the secret sauce which makes and later spreads the fragrance of these graceful eight Miss Universe and Miss Worlds. There is a difference between traditional beauty and global smashers. It is a combination of beauty with the brain which breaks barriers. This is not only a swimsuit pageant where a line of creamy layer politician, bureaucrat, and businessmen enjoy the skin show, shower award, and money. The goal of Miss Universe & Miss World competition is of a top-level. It assesses the overall personality of a person. Include game section to gauges sporting energy of participants through games. As Miss Universe competition initiated in the year 1952 and Miss World in 1951, to date India won only eight diadems. Two Miss Universe & six Miss Worlds pageants. These ladies are not only living the glam world, playing on the silver screen but also contributing to society using their platform. Some of them also breakthrough the barriers and set new social illustrations. So, here mentioning these courageous and generous acts of these eight charming ladies and how some of them brought social changes. Content Miss Universe Sushmita Sen year - 1994 Lara Dutta year - 2000 Miss world Reita Faria year -1966 Aishwarya Rai year -1994 Diana Hayden year -1997 Yukta Mukhi year- 1999 Priyanka Chopra year – 2000 Manushi Chillar year - 2017 MISS UNIVERSE Sushmita Sen In 1994 Sushmita Sen was the first Indian to win Miss Universe competition. Sushmita Sen revealed her story that at first, she withdrew her application from the beauty contest knowing that the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai was the participant. But it was her mother who pushed Sushmita and she reapplied. The outcome was not only in India but on the universal stage, she passed through all and won. So, the lesson she learned and spread that not only outer beauty but overall personality, intelligence wins the race. Sushmita Sen set another record by adopting a girl child as a single unwedded mother. This was not approachable in Indian society. So also in India legally one cannot adopt before attaining the age of 30. She achieved it to adopt a baby at the age of 24. The process was not a cakewalk. Sushmita had to fight a case in the court and win over it. Ten years later again adopted another baby girl. Social contribution – besides engaged in many charitable work, Sushmita also has her own organization named ‘ I Am Foundation’. MISS UNIVERSE Lara Dutta In the year 2000, for the second time, as an Indian Lara Dutta became Miss Universe. she was born in Uttar Pradesh from a Punjabi father and Anglo-Indian mother. Lara proved her worth in the last round while like other finalists she was asked “Right now there is a protest that has been staged outside the stadium posing pageants as an affront to women. Convince them that they are wrong.” To this question, Lara Dutta answered “Pageants like Miss Universe gives us young women a platform to foray in the fields that we want to and forge ahead, be it entrepreneurship, be it the armed forces, be it politics. It gives us a platform to voice our choices and opinions and it makes us strong and independent that we are today." Her response was the introduction of her presence of mind, noble thought, and excellent communication skill. Social contribution – Lara is the Good Will Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund. An ardent supporter of ‘Me too’ movement. MISS WORLD Reita Faria In the year 1966 Reita Faria became the first Miss World from India. Reita also set two new records as: • First Asian woman to win Miss World crown • First World winner to qualify as a physician Social contribution – Reita refused the invitation to join the cinema. She pursued her career as a doctor and served people. Reita Faria got married to a foreigner and now at the age of 76 she lives abroad. Supporter of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals ( PETA). MISS WORLD Diana Hayden In 1997 Diana Hayden became the third Indian to win Miss World crown. Not a beauty contest winner but her works reflect creativity and leadership quality too. Diana is the author of the book “A Beautiful Truth – The Art of Grooming for Women”. Out of India, she entitled her position in Europe by two times hosting Miss Europe competition. Social contribution – Diana is more concerned with women and children's issues. MISS WORLD Priyanka Chopra In 2000 Priyanka Chopra became Miss World and fifth Indian to win the title. Priyanka’s life has been a line of zigzag and then touched the peak. As a teenager, Priyanka joined her aunt’s family in the USA to pursue her high school studies. Seems cinematic but as a real story, she was bullied severely by an opponent girl and her gang. She was called by racist words like “brownie’ etc. Then Priyanka had to come back to India to graduate here. Priyanka finished her highs school in India, became Miss India, Miss World, famous in Indian Film Industry, joined Hollywood, married an American singer. Not only that, own American People’s Choice Award too. The disciplines which gave her due and antagonists down are her diligence, focus, and industrious nature. She also had to go through a period of emotional weakness. ln between her ascendance in career, her father died of cancer. But she stood strong. Social contribution – worked with UNICEF. MISS WORLD Manushi Chillar In 2017 Manushi Chillar, a medical student crowned as Miss World. The interesting coincidence is, to date the first Miss World Reita Faria and Manushi Chillar both are from the medical background. But the difference is while Reita kept herself away from Indian film offers Manushi has joined the league. In the final round Manushi was asked the question “Which profession should receive the highest salary in the world?. And her answer was “A mother's profession should receive the highest salary and respect in the world." Perhaps coming from the most affected gender imbalanced province Haryana in India, this is her inherent feeling. Anyway, this reply contented judges. Firstpost published an article titled “Haryana’s slave brides”. It shows how infamous this place is for the gender gap. Pre-natal sex detection and killing the girl child in the womb is a common practice. When sex-determination was banned it runs in cog, sophisticated, and mirage by using the symbolic name of Indian goddesses and then slaughter it. Social contribution – Manushi has collaborated with UNICEF in the campaign on SARS2 COVID19. Joined with women's hygiene movement and curb anemia in women too. Wishing many more women should participate and win the crown. Change the mindset of skin glory to inner fineness. Eradicate the thought from both men and women that a female is an object. Inculcate in mind that personality, character, and talent reaches her to the loftiest place. END Author Email: [email protected]
