No cross marks the spot is a biography, british missions book by Stella E. Kilby.

About this book

In 1860, eight members of a missionary party died in the marshes at Linyanti in Central Africa. What went wrong? Were they poisoned or did they die of fever? Livingstone instigated the venture; how far can he be blamed for the tragedy? The author sets out to explore in depth the circumstances surrounding this disastrous enterprise. This is Holloway and Anne Helmore’s story and includes Holloway’s as yet unpublished diary and many letters. It is a story of incredible courage, faith and endurance as their party survives a long, hazardous journey across the Kalahari Desert, only to face death at the end. The book concludes with the same journey undertaken by the author 140 years later and gives an account of a unique interview with the chief and elders of the tribe at present living in the Linyanti area.
