Out of Control

On a cold October night, Debbie Green is abducted as she leave a Droitwich pub alone. The fifteen-year-old's poisoned body is found early the following morning and her seemingly motiveless death mystifies the police. Two weeks later the body of seventeen-year-old Jonathan Braidwood is found beneath a railway bridge he was spraying with graffiti. He too has been poisoned with the same homemade concoction, but his wrists are bound and the murderer had tried and failed to strangle him first. After two serial troublemakers from dysfunctional families are found dead, the mood across town changes. The initial outrage at two seemingly innocent deaths dissolves into indifference with the eradication of two troublesome yobs. But no such indifference exists at Thorp Acre School or in family homes with teenagers; earlier unease has evolved into an outright fear.
