This excellent and lavishly illustrated catalog illustrates many examples from Yoshitoshi's numerous series which were drawn together in 1992 for an exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of his death, and includes the most comprehensive list of series and individual prints from each of Yoshitoshi's series currently available. No other book on the artist approaches this book for completeness. Prints illustrated are not only described in technical notes, but are also discussed individually in depth as to their background and history. Interesting sections on "Illustrated Books" and "Preparatory Sketches" are also included. Finally, complete listings (titles and descriptions) are given of ALL of the prints from many of Yoshitoshi's series, plus a detailed Glossary of Terms.
