Sobre este libro
Brave New World is a dystopian novel by English author Aldous Huxley, written in 1931, and published in 1932. Largely set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by the story's protagonist. Huxley followed this book with a reassessment in essay form, Brave New World Revisited (1958), and with his final novel, Island (1962), the utopian counterpart. This novel is often used as a companion piece or inversion counterpart to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949).

Lo Que Dicen los Lectores
“Fascinating ideas but the characters feel more like vehicles for philosophy than real people.”
“Required reading for the modern age. Huxley understood that control through comfort is far more effective than control through fear.”
“Huxley was a prophet. The conditioning, the consumerism, the shallow entertainment - it's all here.”

Fascinating ideas but the characters feel more like vehicles for philosophy than real people.
Huxley was a prophet. The conditioning, the consumerism, the shallow entertainment - it's all here.
Pairs perfectly with 1984. Where Orwell feared banning books, Huxley feared no one would want to read them.
In many ways more accurate than 1984. Huxley predicted we'd be controlled by pleasure, not pain.
Gave it five stars. Brave New World is the kind of book I'll keep coming back to and noticing new things in.
The soma concept is brilliant. We're living in a soft version of this world already.
The world-building is incredible but the narrative is clunky in places. Still worth reading for the ideas.
The Savage's arc is heartbreaking. This book asks the essential question: is happiness worth the cost?
A disturbing utopia that makes you question what progress really means. Brilliant and unsettling.
Didn't hold up for me. Brave New World has a few good ideas, but I struggled to stay engaged.
One of the most thought-provoking books I've ever read. The casual acceptance of totalitarianism is chilling.
