Management of high-risk pregnancy

Abstract: A comprehensive, and practical reference text in maternal and fetal medicine for obstetricians and gynecologists provides 64 authoritative reviews on the assessment and management of high-risk for adverse maternal and fetal outcome in pregnant women. The reviews include basic technical information, case studies, disorders, diagnosis, metabolic factors, and guidelines based on patient experiences. The papers are arranged among 9 specific categories: endo- and exo-factors adversely affecting pregnancy; genetic abnormalities; biochemical and biophysical monitoring of the fetus; procedures for managing high-risk pregnancy; the effects of various maternal diseases on pregnancy health status (23 papers); pregnancy complications; complications associated with labor and delivery; and neonatal considerations. A comment by the editor, a renowned obstetrics-gynecology expert, is included at the close of many of the papers. Tabular data and illustrations are indluded throughout the text, and literature citations are appended to each of the papers.
