Pride of Lancashire

Carrie, the oldest child of ten, is devastated when her father dies and her family is kicked out of their terraced house in Hedderby. But she finds work as a cleaner in a local pub, while her idle mother falls straight into the arms of the town's stingiest landlord. Carrie loves working in the pub, where the idealistic new young manager is trying to get a new music room up and running, but is she safe from the demands of Hedderby's rapacious mill owner?
