The first in a trilogy this is an epic historical novel set during the first quarter of the 20th century. Housemaid Annie leaves her family and everything she knows in England to travel to Australia with her fiance, Ferguson. She is excited to begin a new life with a new husband on the other side of the world. But Australia doesn't turn out to be the land of Annie's hopes and dreams when she discovers that those closest to her have betrayed her. A betrayal devastating enough to destroy all of their lives. Then Annie unexpectedly encounters Alexander Townsend, the handsome doctor she met on the voyage to Melbourne.
